The Early Childhood Education Program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to be competent and professional members of an early childhood education team. Students will learn about child development, communication, curriculum development and implementation, exceptionalities, and diversity. Students will learn how to analyze the behaviour of children. |

OBJECTIVE |
|
· Criminal Record Check is needed before entering the practicum experience component of the program. The existence of a criminal record may affect the practicum placement, program completion, and employment prospects. The consequences of a prior criminal conviction will be examined and discussed on an individual basis. The logistics for obtaining a Criminal Record Check will be discussed with students prior to acceptance into the program. · .Must be Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student status. · Possesses a good command of the English language and is able to follow instructions. |

ADMISSION REQUIRMENTS |
|
Students will gain hands-on work exposure with their 20-day field placement. As well, students will leave the program with a resume, a professional portfolio (including statement of personal teaching philosophy and field performance reviews), job-hunting and interview skills, and valuable industry contacts made through field placements |
